TAMTAMTAM 7 – Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who came to TAMTAMTAM 7 Performance + Music event at ZMF on the 23rd of January.

First, we had 2 hours of performances by Clement Layes, Olivier Maarschalk, Dee Mee Tree and Quim Bigas Bassart. Then the action shifted into the club space where the party started. Johannes Wengel was on the decks, Mark Boombastik + Kirsty Kross performed their live act, Gelbart demonstrated the wonders of multi-instrumentalism, and O Tannenbaum DJs kept the people happy :) Our MC Doris Dorenkrupp together with Black Magic Dancers was making sure the energy was right and Bana Banal finished the evening with a performance.

If you want to learn more about the artists, check out http://playberlin.com/2010/01/tamtamtam-7-magic-happens/

Twin Shadow / George Lewis

george

After a stint living in Berlin, Bowie and Kraftwerk obsessive and former band-hopper George Lewis Jr. moved back to his home base of Brooklyn and started writing affected electronic pop under the name Twin Shadow. This backstory is maybe not that unique, but Lewis’ elicitation of songs as enigmatic as “Castles In The Snow” and “Yellow Balloon” – both co-produced by Ed Banger affiliate Mickey Moonlight–certainly is. They’re like a wiser, well-adjusted alternative to glo-fi, due on a forthcoming 7-inch in March with another set to follow for Chris Taylor / Grizzly Bear’s Terrible Records. Yes, this dude will probably have a really good year.
