PLAYberlin recommends: IDEE DESA KOMMUNISMUS KONFERENZ

Heute in Deutsch:

Idee des Kommunismus

Wir empfehlen Folgendes:

“Idee des Kommunismus – Philosophie und Kunst Konferenz”

Datum: 25-27.06.2010

Kurzauszug:

Idea of Communism. Philosophy and Art is a scientific/artistic conference aimed at considering the concept of “Communism” from a new perspective and including its multiple significations. For three days, all rooms in the Volksbühne will be devoted to this event. “Since the labour movements in the 19th century and their interpretation by great minds of the times, the word “Communism” has been at the intersection between politics and philosophy. Therefore, nowadays it must be considered on the basis of both its ideal content and the actual experiences to which it has been associated and in which it has been seriously compromised.” (Alain Badiou) The conference will focus on a review of the socialist States that embodied the motive of a “dictatorship of the proletariat” in the 20th century. With this in mind, it will host a significant number of participants from Eastern European countries. The main events are four philosophical panels on the subject “The word Communism: between philosophical criticism and an actual review of the socialist States” led by Alain Badiou (Paris) and Slavoj Žižek (Ljubljana). The aesthetical approach to the subject is an art program including performances, installations, films and concerts. (find out more here: http://www.volksbuehne-berlin.de)

Die Tickets kosten für das ganze Wochenende 50 Euro / ermäßigt 25 Euro

TAMTAMTAM Undercover

This weekend is promising a lot, including an undercover version of TAMTAMTAM that will take place this Friday on the 11th of June at my studio, as well as the official inauguration of our T3 Lab on Sunday the 13th of June, where everyone is invited to share their artistic and research practice with the others.

But first things first:

1) adLibdances @ Laborgras

On Friday the 11th of June at 18.00, LaborGras will host a dance performance by adLibdances / Kat Válastur featuring our dear friend Ligia Manuela Lewis. From what we’ve heard this work is really beautiful and inspiring, so we urge you to make it there. The entrance is free.

2) TAMTAMTAM Undercover

After that, the same Friday on the 11th of June at 22.30 we invite you to TAMTAMTAM Undercover, which will take place at Dmitry’s studio at Kunstfabrik.

The thing about this TAMTAMTAM is that we have a smaller space and a special situation with the entrance that is always closed (not our fault). So we decided to use this opportunity to do something a bit more intimate and to get to know you better. If you’d like to come, please, send back an e-mail shortly introducing yourself to info at playberlin dot com (if we don’t know each other personally) and I’ll send you back the invitation, the exact location, and the times when we’ll open the door.

We’ll have Johannes Wengel sharing his latest music raritaeten, as well as a special guest from France – Perrine en Morceaux – who will perform live her solo set of which she herself says: “I sing ways of saying over loops of music. I wonder and experiment with what pop can possibly mean, using 1 body, 2 machines and 3 mics. I dream of songs as relational viruses.”

3) The New O Tannenbaum Location

The next day, on Saturday the 12th of June, our friends O Tannebaum are opening their new location on Sonnenallee 27 (close to Hermannplatz u-bahn). We are very excited about this new space as they’ll be showing great films, host amazing music events, serve nice strong Belgian beers, and, of course, DJ themselves. So, check out their website for more information and come on the 12th to celebrate with them.

4) T3 Lab – Share Your Practice

Finally, after a long marathon of art, music, and entertainment we invite you to come to our T3 Lab, which will be hosted at my studio on Sunday the 13th of June at 22.00. We’ve been doing it since March and the main idea is that people are invited to share their practice followed by a Q&A / feedback session. We have artists showing their works in progress, talking about their process, giving workshops, discussions, etc.

This time it will be me presenting network analysis of texts and how networks can be used to create nonlinear associative narratives in a performative context. To get an idea, check out ThisIsLike blog where you can see some of my posts on this topic. If you’d like to come, please, reply to this e-mail, as the number of spaces are limited.

Thank you for your attention!

Mi Ami – the disco punk trio from west coast usa make their anticipated return to Berlin as part of their ‘Steal Your Face’ album tour. The last show supporting Black Dice rocked the audience hard with their hi energy performance. Taking in elements of dub, techno, punk, rock they really are in world of their own. A world where people have fun and party hard to drums, bass and synth and then explode in torrents of energy waves as guitar and voice ignite. Berlin, this is your one and only chance to catch this unique band in 2010, DO NOT MISS.

Ben Butler & Mousepad (live)
Berlin based drum and electronic mayhem!
Ben Butler & Mouse Pad is Joe Gay Against You/Germlin’s new project with Bastian Hagedorn. Anyone exposed to the furious shake & pop of pixelated DIY dance fury from either act should expect excellence. Anaglouey electro pop dance music for people raised in the digital age who want to party like its 2999.

O Tannenbaum DJs is Pieter and Olivier – two DJs from Berlin who can keep people dancing through the night like no one else in the city. Their music is a highly eclectic mix of the magical tribal vibes, forgotten and unforgotten 80’s & 90’s dancefloor hits, wave, 70’s electropop, dancehall, acid, cumbia, 50’s & 60’s rarities, but mostly stuff you never ever heard before. O Tannenbaum are residents of TAMTAMTAM parties organized by PLAYBerlin. In June  they ll open their new space in Neukölln. We ll keep you updated.
