TAMTAMTAM Halloweeeeeeen

Hello dear friends,

TAMTAMTAM is coming back on the 31st of October with the Halloweeeen sci-fi / time travel went wrong theme. We would very much like you, yes, you to be a part of this event as well. So if you feel like contributing something, which could be an object, a performance, a piece of music, a word of encouragement, a word of critique, food, money, organs or anything else – please, do let us know. Otherwise, we’re also still looking for a suitable space, so if you know a venue that could host about 150 people and has several rooms and no annoying neighbors – we need it!

John-Erik who will be in charge of making the space look special has a special request for you guys. Basically, he wants you to give him all your junk so we can build something up for the night. And unused stuff will be part of the huge junk swapshop, where you’ll be able to exchange items, find new love, and so on. Here’s John-Erik’s message:

Need to get rid of stuff? Play Berlin wants it. Why? Because the costumes and decorations for TAMTAMTAM’s Halloween party will be made out of junk. The junk you don’t want anymore. All this unwanted stuff will become the raw materials for our art department to build the dazzling sci-fi world where the party will take place.
So don’t throw it away. Give it to us and it can live a new life as an ancient monster/mad scientist/atomic ray gun/symbiotic cape creature/space-time vortex/telepathic tube array/ time machine control panel/etc.
Think of TAMTAMTAM’s art department as Berlin’s newest city service: Creative Recycling.

Here’s what we can use:
CLOTHES (any kind. even if they smell or are full of holes)
clothing accessories (earrings, sunglasses, eyepatches, anything)
fabric
wood
cardboard (scraps, sheets, tubes, toiletpaper rolls, etc)
plastic packaging material
plastic bottles
paper
newspaper
pvc pipe
aluminium foil
broken electronic equipment (headphones, stereos, tvs, computers, etc)
broken appliances
defunct technology
housewares
broom handles
string, ropes, cables
paint
foam mattresses
aluminium foil
tape
random stuff
basically, ANYTHING as long as it’s not leaking, toxic or radioactive.

Please contact John-Erik if you want him to pick up your unwanted things. Or you can schedule with him to drop them off at a designated Halloween Materials Dropp-Off spot.

TAMTAMTAM Teaser

For all those of you who partied with us at the very first TAMTAMTAM this April, here’s a video from the party. DJs Flame Stag and Knotty Drew are doing their amazing, eclectic, spiritual, enlightening set.

Don’t miss them at TAMTAMTAM 5 on the 15th of August at WIR Gallery. DJ Flame Stag will also do his own set next week at TAMTAMTAM 4, which will happen at a secret location on Thursday or Friday (we’ll announce it later here).

Special Rider – First Song

It was you who brought this trouble
with the way your right hand lead;
you could have had a quiet life
but for the burning in your head.

I saw you on the mountain,
I saw you coming down -
rolling like an avalanche
onto a helpless town.

I stood there like an idiot
with a steel bit in my mouth,
the sky blackened by every bird
moving south.

Down on the waterfront
there is a ship of fools
delivering a shapeless mass
and a bag of tools.

It sailed in on a Tuesday
it was raining on the docks
that was the day that crazy Murphy escaped
by chewing through his locks.

A noble dog had lost its head
and bit its master’s hand
who leapt back and struck the hourglass
spilling out the sand.

It’s not time to look back on fields
of burnt-up aching clay -
they’ll get you in a second
if they see you turned that way.

You wandered through the meadows
I had known as a child.
The wind caught your flowing hair
and your eyes were burning wild.

I don’t remember where it was
you finally left me behind,
maybe down by the old canal
where the swans made a rag out of my mind

To clean up this awful mess
of sticks and mud and tar
and the black streaks on the window
that cover up my lucky star.

The ship of fools sailed away
but left the fools behind.
They married with the sick and weak,
the lovelorn and the blind.

Their children were all sorcerers
and alchemists of gold
from the steam of their cooking
you learned the stories that you told -

The stories that you told to me
in the breaking dawn,
the ones that made me love you
and that keep me driving on.

They dragged your body through the streets -
fingers in your golden hair.
Swing low, sweet blade!
leave no one standing here.

I know it’s not the first time
and that you’ve been dead before -
blinded by transfiguration
shifting at your core.

If feel your spirit with me now
like a blood-light in my brains,
no electricity or sunlight
along these darkened plains.

But there’s a golden city in the distance
and there’s curses on my tongue -
before you there were other worlds
and now there’s only one.
